Hello everyone,
For the stage technology in our theater, we have set up a central control system. We are using the following WAGO hardware, which is controlled from the lighting console:
- Controller: PFC200 (750-8212)
- Communication Terminal: Serial Interface (753-652)
- Operating Mode: DMX Slave
The Problem
Currently, we are struggling with massively unstable values on the DMX bus. For example, when the lighting console sends the constant value 200 on channel 1, this value does not remain stable in the controller. Instead, the received value flickers uncontrollably between completely random values.
Previous Error Analysis & Workarounds
To rule out hardware-related issues, we have already checked and implemented the following points:
- Direct Connection: For testing purposes, the controller is connected directly to the lighting console (no intermediate nodes).
- Wiring: The wiring has been implemented strictly according to WAGO documentation.
- Termination Resistor: A DMX terminator is properly installed in the bus line.
- Software Filters: We have temporarily implemented programmatic filters. This makes the system controllable to a certain extent, but beyond a certain point, the incoming values are simply no longer plausible to evaluate, and the system becomes unreliable.
Has anyone here had similar experiences with this hardware combination in DMX slave mode? Are there any known pitfalls regarding timing settings, termination, or specific parameters in the terminal configuration that we might have overlooked?
Thank you very much in advance for your support!
Best regards,
Lucas
