I have a customer looking to use a camera to capture video at certain cycles of the testing. A full blown vision system is not needed, there will not be inspections done. We are just looking to capture a minute video at certain cycles. If we get a ethernet based camera, what is the base way to communicate, trigger, and then send the video via email?

One way would be to use an Edge Computer with NodeRED and RSTP to MMPEG library. Most IP Cameras support RSTP. Then you can zip up the file and attach it to an email in NodeRED (as long as the file size is <5 MB or so)

Kurt…this is a very cost sensitive application. Is the edge computer needed? Can we do it on the back end of a PFC?
