879-9000 Comms Module not getting IP address

Hello there,

I am trying to get a Modbus Comms Module (879-9000) connected to the network.

Wilst the Link-LED shows green, the module does not appear in the network device list i.e. does not appear to get an IP address.
I have also tried an isolated router with just the module connected, no success either.

The network is DHCP based, the module connected via a 5V power supply.

Any help would be approciated…Thanks!

Hello,
By default the 879-9000 need a DHCP server to get an IP address.
Do you have one on your network ?

Next, have you download the settings app which is available on the website ?

Hello & thank you for the feedback!

The DHCP server is in the network, but the module did not initially appear in the device list, even with an isolated router. I eventually found it in the IP list of the main network. Perhaps the module just needed some time after restart (I haven’t checked the timing yet). By the way, the hostnames mentioned in some forums, which were supposed to indicate the module type, did not match; it registers as “inepro-xxx”.

Hello, I know some DHCP server push a specific hostname to it’s clients. Maybe this was what happened in your case.

Hello Wagolcard, in this case, probably not.
I got the “tip” from a screenshot of a support employee, so it seems rather generic (unless he has the same router ).
