BC100, Codesys cannot find with IO Fault

Have two 750-8000’s on the bench, both FW 01.03.03(03).

Tried connecting to them without any cards attached, could network with them but Codesys cannot connect (tried scanning and manually defining). Tried with just a 750-600 attached. Same result. Added a 750-430 along with 750-600(which clears IO Fault), after a reboot Codesys can connect.

Have not experienced this with PFC200 (750-8212). Is this the intended operation or am I doing something wrong?

Hello, indeed those are normal.
The PFC series use a linux OS and an internal bus driver. Since the internal bus can be deasctivated, the linux OS and the runtime can still run without the internal bus.
On the 750-8xx and 750-800x the internal bus in directly linked to the runtime and the firmware (non linux based).

In short, the PFC series don’t need anything (But having a 750-600 to protect the internal bus contact is higly recommended) and the 750-8xx and 750-800x need at last one module and a 750-600.

I recommend you that you can ping the 750-8xxx devices from your laptop. Then make sure you are running the latest Codesys IDE from WAGO download center, which will come with the target drivers for your controllers.

@WagoIcard thanks for the explanation, that tracks with my experience and makes sense.

@WagoKurt ping was fine (I realize I didn’t quite spell that out in original post), no issues in Codesys provided it has an IO card attached. Latest versions on everything, at that time.
