This post assumes you already know how to set up and configure the Edge Computers out of the box.
Installing the Codesys runtime on the WAGO Edge Computers is pretty straight forward, but there can be some tricky parts:
- Download CODESYS Control for Linux SL package from the Codesys website:
-
Using Codesys Installer (running as Admin), add the package to your Codesys installation.
-
Create a new standard project and select the Control for Linux SL device:
You may get library a bunch of library errors because the SL package references SM3. Under Library Manager, select Download Missing Libraries and let Codesys bring in all the SM3 libraries.
- Go to Tools—>Update Linux. This will add the SL runtime to the Edge Computer.
Enter user: root and password: (default password or whatever password you may have changes it to) and the IP address of the controller.
Select Install.
During the installation process, Codesys may ask if you would like to install several supporting apps. Go ahead and select Yes to those as they come up.
Once that is complete, you can download to the “Controller” from Codesys as if your Edge Computer was any Wago PLC.
