How To: Codesys 3.5.19.17 Installation and FW27 (Sandbox Lite)

For Codesys 3.5.19.7, the installation process is a little different than for previous versions. From the DownloadCenter:

Separate storage of libraries, device descriptions, etc. from other CODESYS installations (“Sandbox Light”). We strongly recommend that you enable this option during setup! You can find detail information in our video tutorials.

During the installation process select Custom:

For the WAGO Devices and Libraries 2.0.5.6, install ONLY this package for Codesys 3.5.19.7.

It is HIGHLY recommended that 2.0.5.6 NOT be installed in previous versions of Codesys.

Why? There is a possibility of compiler errors that may arise from new 64-bit libraries (as noted in the link above).

Go ahead and keep your previous Codesys installs for FW26 and older. Use the “sandboxed” 3.5.19.7 for FW27 and newer.

The first time I saw this instruction, I did a standard installation of codesys SP19 Patch 7.
And after that, my old projects refused to open. I created a new project and then manually transferred the files there. Everything works. But I think this method is not entirely correct. Probably this is due to the fact that I installed CODESYS everything according to the classic scheme, and not as indicated above?

When you do the “sandbox” install, during the installation prompt you are simply selecting a new location in C:/ProgramData to store/separate the devices and libraries.

Outlined in Green are all my previous versions of Codesys, outlined in orange is SP19 Patch 7 separate folder location for installed packages (i.e., devices and libraries).
